Urinary Incontinence Treatment – Co2 Laser

Aesthetic medicine

Exertional  urinary incontinence is caused by a weakening of the pelvic floor muscles or stretching of the vagina and a change in the angle of the urethra. The involuntary leakage of urine occurs in situations of increased intra-abdominal pressure – during sneezing, laughing, coughing and during increased physical exertion.

This is a very common condition for many women, which has a significant impact on decreasing the quality of life. The main therapeutic option is laser therapy. At Diamond Clinic, we perform treatments with the state-of-the-art Virgo laser. The treatment consists of photothermal shrinking of the vagina. The laser light strengthens the vaginal walls, the intrauterine fascia and the urethral outlet area. The effect is to stimulate the collagen fibres of the vaginal mucosa, shrinking the tissue which contributes to reducing the angle of the urethra and restoring its normal function.

During the pre-surgery consultation, gynaecological examination and cytology are performed to exclude contraindications and any anatomical changes that preclude the procedure.

The number of treatments required depends on the case and is determined individually during the consultation. The final effect of the treatment can be seen approximately one month after the treatment.
