Labiaplasty – Labia Reduction Surgery

Cosmetic surgery

The appearance of each woman’s intimate area is individual, the labia vary in size and shape and there is no rule or defined standard. Many women have slightly larger, irregular and often asymmetrical labia and do not experience any discomfort.

However, for some women, an excess of tissue in the labia minora can cause intimate discomfort such as chafing and flare-ups, which can occur even with daily activities and can lead to recurrent infections. Sometimes it is also a source of psychological distress and insecurity, which can cause sexual dysfunction.

Fortunately, the appearance of this part of the body can be easily corrected, labioplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure to improve the appearance of the intimate area by correcting the labia minora. This procedure aims to reduce labia that are too large, correct their asymmetry, or even out their irregular edges.

Labioplasty – what does the procedure look like?

Labia minora plasty is performed under local anaesthesia, which ensures that the patient is completely comfortable during the procedure. The plastic surgeon removes a designated amount of excess tissue in a precise manner to give the intimate area the look, that patient desires. The scars after the procedure are hidden in the natural folds, making them virtually invisible.

Labioplasty – how to proceed after the procedure?

Recovery time varies from patient to patient, but is generally no longer than one week. Daily wound washing and antisepsis are usually recommended. The stitches are usually removed within one to ten days after the operation. For the first seven days after surgery, do not physically strain or exercise. UV exposure, use of saunas and swimming pools should also be avoided.
