Proctology
Anal fissure is a rupture of the mucosa of the lower rectum. The complaints associated with this condition are acute pain, bleeding, burning and itching. The main cause of anal fissure is increased tension on the anal sphincter.
Botulinum toxin treatment
Treatment of anal fissure with botulinum toxin involves injecting a small amount of botox directly into the sphincter muscles. The treatment contributes to the relaxation of the muscles, reducing pain and speeding up the healing process of the fissure. Botox treatment reduces the risk of recurrence and can be used for chronic anal fissures.
Surgical excision
This method involves excising the edges of the chronic wound and placing dissolvable sutures. The excision leads to proper healing of the wound.
Untreated anal fissure can lead to complications such as perianal fistula or perianal abscess, so it is important to see a doctor as soon as possible if symptoms develop.
